The story begins in 1985, when the first vines were planted at Emma's Cottage in Lovedale. From Pinot Noir to Shiraz, Chardonnay to Verdelho, the boutique vineyard has grown premium fruit for decades.
Rather than being lost in larger blends, this fruit was given its own stage. Guided by the next generation of Hunter Valley winemakers and inspired by the diverse terroir of local vineyards, a new collection took shape—wines with personality, a little playful, a little bold. An alter ego.
That's how Alter Wines was born: seven boutique wines that put a modern spin on classic Hunter Valley favourites. Alter is fresh, vibrant and a little unexpected.
